Match Review - 05/12/15

What an afternoon for Signol Under 8s teams, absolute pleasure watching you all today and i feel privileged to be pitch side watching you week in week out growing in strength!

Signol Reds Vs AFC Stanley

I changed the formation today to see what would happen and wow it proved to be a winner! We started out, Ethan keeping goal, Caleb in defence, Harry on the left, Nyle on the right and Kian forward! This is a natural position for Kian, seizing opportunity, watching mistakes being made and snapping in where he can and bagged himself 4 goals today! An amazing performance! Caleb at the back, strong, fast and always in position, never lets the team down he knows what needs doing and he gets the job done! A nice goal from him today too! Nyle on the right, fast and not afraid to hunt the ball down. Some great long balls from him kept AFC out of our half. Harry "lightning" Seymour keeping the left covered, played an absolute blinder today, when he takes him time on the ball his skill is out of this world! Brilliant player! The first half we had the wind on our side which was good, The passing and moving up the pitch was great. It wasn't faultless but it was the best ive seen them play. Positions held perfectly and every lad on the pitch was in the team, passing when they had chance, assisting goals and snapping at the ankles of the opposition. The second half saw Kobe in defence, George on the left, Louis on the right and Kian still forward. George never fails to deliver, hes like the hulk! Once the ball is in play boom hes gone. He will take on three players if he has to and always wins the ball. Good solid head too, he will get a header in where he can and 9/10 its in the right direction. Top player! Kobe in defence working hard with Ethan, driving the ball forward but coming under fire. He leaps over feet like a professional and carry's on! Louis doing some great moves today, keeping the ball in when they tried to kick it out. His strong legs are perfect for power shots. Clearing the ball up the pitch and keeping our side safe. Ethan was great today, only conceded 1 goal and did a cracking dive to a save. Well done Ethan.

Man of the match and Captain next week could only be Kian! He was on fire today. Well done Kian.

Signol Blues Vs Dukinfield Blacks

Warming the boys up i only had Thomas and Jackson. Bit of a worry, then along came Kieren and Josh. We only had four players unfortunately. I did know of two not coming. The only option we had was to ask the opposition if we could borrow a keeper for our goal. Always a worry as you think, well wont he just let them in so his team win? Nope, not atal, what a sportsman he was. A huge Thank You to Harrison for stepping up and being an absolute legend! I knew Josh was happy he kept high fiving him and saying thank you!
So we started out, Jackson right, Thomas left, Josh center and Kieren defence. They didn't let a little thing like numbers get the better of them. I've never seen them play so well. Apart from having to swap Thomas back to his beloved defence spot these boys played a blinder. Jackson really came alive today, committed to the ball, going in for a tackle and bagging himself 2 goals! Thomas, its great to see him grow week on week, and not just in height but confidence. He has no issue now of getting control of the ball and wading up the pitch with it. Kieren has a powerful kick for a little lad, hes quite surprising. Clearing the ball out of the danger zone and always being on hand for assistance. Josh, well, hes a one man machine that one. Even the other coach mentioned, he never stops does he! He goes down, he gets up, he loses the ball, he hunts it down and takes it back. Brilliant little player. Scoring two goals he kept us in the game.
It was nice to hear the other coach say to me, you have a really good team here! very proud of each of you. Well done on winning your first match of the season too, 4-3 win.

Man of the match had to be Jackson. This was the game that turned it all around for him and he proved just how much he deserves to be on the team. Awesome game.
