Match review - 02/04/06

Signol Reds Vs AFC Stanley Reds

Here we are another cold rainy day, just what the boys wanted! They play better in rain! Starting with Louis at the back, Nyle right and Caleb left with Kian captaining them on the front. Started out with pace looking tight, but we were soon to concede, they were ploughing through. The team did ask me at the beginning as they were short of players could they play some of their other team from a higher division and i was fine with this. back to the start and it was our kick off. Their captain was fast on the heels of Kian but it left the wings wide open. Louis standing strong in defence refusing to let another past. We pushed up on the attack and Kian quickly took advantage of their mistakes and sliced one in! Team spirit lifting and they were off. A quick change of Louis for The Wall to come on. Boom a bull in a china shop destroying anything in his path. Finally today he found the back of the net for a well deserved goal! But with great power comes strength and he shouldered a lad off the pitch and gave away a free kick! Not to worry though it went wide of the net. Another goal from Kian kept them on the back foot. Their kick off and a change of players and they were quick, determined to get the goals back which they did. It was almost like a game of volley, you score ill score you score ill score. Then came one of the best amount of team work i have ever seen from the boys, Caleb brings it in from the left crosses to Nyle, Nyle cant find the goal so passed to Kian and boom in the net. That was real team work and just what its all about! Whistle blown and a quick drink n swap. Kobe on for Nyle and Harry for Kian changing the formation. Kobe today displayed some great ball control. Jumping over tackles and driving the attack but he just couldn't make it. AFC are quick to defend. They broke free and Harry had to fall back as quick as he could to help George but hes rapid so we know were safe. Caleb hammers a ball into the net and were 5-2 up! A momentary lack of concentration saw AFC bag another goal. We made them work though their goals wernt easily found. Harry deciding he wasn't having it made a great run in to receive the ball and grab a goal. A swap for Caleb with Louis on the wing and the boys fought to the last whistle and kept the score a lovely 6-3. What i didn't tell them, they were playing against division 1 players and their little faces full of delight when i did, it just proves how much they have progressed over the year. The Div 1 coach came to me at the end and complimented the team saying they could compete confidently in division 1! Its lovely to hear because they deserve it!

Man of the match and captain next week is Kobe. Kobe has developed so much from the start of the season. Positioning and reading the game but his ball control. Only critic would be to keep the ball closer to his feet when running with it. Other than that he was spot on today! Well done Kobe, great game for you!

Blues:

Jamie is doing your match report but a few words from me.

Although we only had Kieren (Net), Daniel, Fin, Josh and Dylan you played fantastic. Harry and Nyle stuck around to help but the game was all yours. Dylan you are fantastic in defence, your confidence and power places you perfect. Josh again great game for you, Daniel is improving week on week and even the boys said to me didn't he play well, compliments from your team mates is the best compliment. Fin, started defence but your height doesn't place you there, when you were in centre mid you were great. Falling back when needed and i saw you blast the ball clear of our area. Fantastic Fin. Well done boys!

Thanks

Hayley
