Match Review - 23/01/16

Signol Reds Vs Tintwhistle Yellow

The game started with Nyle in defence, Harry and Louis in midfield and Kian forward. The first half of the first half was very slow, we were losing the ball and not claiming it back. Tintwhistle fired in a goal followed by two more. This seem to wake the lads up, the game picked up pace and we were defending. The boys kept that ball moving and both Louis and Harry scored. We were fighting for the ball and moving a lot quicker. Ethan was also doing great, diving for the ball, covering the ball and not letting any more past him. Second half was an improvement. We didn't concede in this half. Kian was quick to take advantage of mistakes scoring a cracking goal right over the keepers head. Caleb out on the wing with Kobe and the unstoppable George in defence. Nothing was passing George, hes definitely the wall of the team! Kobe was captain and he served his team well. Chasing down the ball and keeping it nice and wide. Caleb as always settles into any position, footwork on key and driving it through for us. A final goal from Kian earned the a well deserved win.

It is beginning to emerge now where there comfortable positions are and who is at their best there.

Man of the match and captain next week could only go to Ethan. What a day for him. Hes not afraid of the ball he is quick to jump on it and it doesn't phase him when 4 players are steaming towards him, he just saves the ball! Well done Ethan!

Signol Blue Vs Heyside Juniors

Starting with Rio, Josh, Thomas, Harvey and Dylan in net the game set off with great pace. Very evenly matched. We were defending fantastic and keeping them guessing. Rio's throw ins are amazing, hes got some power in them arms. Josh the unstoppable was plowing through as always and he even brought his own cheer leader today, Holly! :) Harvey on the wing trying really hard. Thomas as always solid in defence did great, his technique is spot on. We had them on the defence and we looked really tight, an unfortunate goal was conceded but it wasn't the end of the world, we were still in the game. Josh and Rio working great together seem to know where each other are at all times. Second half unfortunately was a different story. We struggled to keep the ball at kick off and they found our net six times. Daniel, Kieren, Jackson and Fin were on, Fin won a tackle and cleared the ball a few times, Kieren had a couple of good runs, Dan constantly going for it and Jackson's defending picked up pace. Dylan was fantastic in net, so at ease. Saving the ball a lot and did really well with using his area. Very adaptable player. Its a shame it was such a heavy defeat and i could see some of the lads were not happy but training Tuesday we will work on a few things.

Man of the match and captain next week had to be Rio. When Rio isn't there we clearly miss him, hes a great winger and always tries his best. Could be quicker getting up off the floor but overall hes a fantastic player and we mustn't forget hes a year younger so hes competing at a lever above and still manages to keep us in the game. Brilliant today.
